Would have been great, if not for ticking all the usual boxes one can expect from Hollywood these days, ticks that contribute absolutely -nothing- to the story.
- Wednesday does not know about Tik Tok, but is familiar with the word 'mansplaning', which she often uses.
- Wednesday does not own a mobile phone, but is familiar with the term 'Patriarchy'.
- Every male character is either a wimp, or a villain (not hard to guess who the villain is, naturally)
- One kid's parents are two fat lesbian moms, because reasons?
Sum the above, and it's frightening how the most normal family in the show is the Addams family. I suppose because they couldn't gender-swap Gomez, or somesuch.
The story behind it is decent, but the show is one of those shows who cares about smothering you with LGBTQ dogma + Political Correctness + Intersectional Feminism + Critical Race Theory, and thus, if you are a reasonable person who wants a good story and can spot out all this nonsense, you'll be frustrated and simply skip to the end.
That's what I did at least, and will probably not be watching season 2. If you want a good supernatural show with a female lead, I suggest 'Girl from Nowhere'. No politically correct nonsense, proper Goth/horror and a great storyline.
