I wanted to like the book series. I really did. But I have quite a few problems with he series, and they just keep getting worse and worse: 1. The characters. Where do I start? They're all white (with the exception of Tam, Linh, and Wylie), they're all crazy stereotypical, and there are WAAAAAAAAY too much. There is zero development on them, and to be frank, they are all annoying and unlikable. 2. The plotline. It started out alright, but nothing really ever changes. Bad guys, good guys, good guys attack the bad guys and don't win. That's literally it. It's also a really big ripoff of Harry Potter. Kid learns they belong to this new world, goes to this school, but, uh oh, there are bad guys! The death eaters/neverseen! But not to worry there are good guys too! The order of the phoenix/black swan! Seriously? 3. The love triangle. I hate love triangles in general, but this has got to be the worst. The girl is perfect, smart and pretty, and the boys are all so hot!! Oh no, she can't choose! Oh no, she's absolutely oblivious! 4. And of course there is the fact that elves are so stinkin racist to humans. In Harry Potter, they at least respected muggles and praised their cleverness at figuring out what sto live life without magic. In KOTLC, they are constantly insulting and belittling humans, reminding everyone how stupid they are, and oh, they're not as beautiful as elves! Dex is always scoffing at "human technology" Um, at least we figured out how to use it without MAGIC!! In general, I think the series was alright at first but they just kept getting more and more tedious. You can always still read the if you're looking for a book series to read, but if you're a picky reader like me, you might want to avoid this one.
