The novel was published some 20 years ago, and I was a high school student at the time. The novel itself was breath-taking, and differed from any other sci-fi novels I have ever read.
The story line in the movie is much shorter than novel. While the novel is like a chronicle, the movie captures only a 'small' incidence in the novel.
