I absolutely loved how they showed Ethen Hunt's wear, tear and even fears. Those small nightmare and the thought sequences are huge. He's not indestructible, he's human and giving everything to save those he possibly can. Even with Lane and Walker sitting next to him he dozes off into a nightmare - genius!
