The CBC's coverage of the opening of the Olympics was abysmal. The hosts were not well enough informed regarding the acts and performers. They often missed their cues and covered the act only after it was over. Many times there was no commentary at all, they were that ill prepared.
When they did speak, they primarily talked about themselves and their experiences.
Their focus was not on the historical significance of the games or of the games themselves but on grandstanding themselves.
Their lack of: professional delivery; research before the event; overall interest in the games was a major disappointment.
It was a national embarassment to be a Canadian viewer.
It was such a disappointment, and even though I am a proud Canadian, my distaste at their delivery will be the reason I will watch the closing ceremonies, and any remaining games, on NBC.
Shameful.
