Okay honest review. I don’t hate it nor do I love it. There’s a lot to unwrap from the writing to the directing and even the acting.
So I’ve never seen Walker, Texas Ranger so I can’t voice how similar or dissimilar CW Walker is.
First of the mystery behind Emily’s death is what kept me hooked cause from the first episode and what they showed us had me wondering what the heck happened! So obviously I had my own ideas and theories and it was fun trying to figure out what had happened and then with every new episode you get more clues. That was until we finally found out what happened, and it did make sense the way they explained it but I was kinda hoping for more.
13 episodes in and that has been my favourite part about the show.
From the articles I read about the intent of this new Walker they’re certainly not living up to any of it.
The writing at most times is sort of cringe worthy.
For instance there’s a scene where they have a suspect in custody who said they have information but won’t say anything without protection. The suspect goes on to tell them they have proof inside and they can go get it and Texas Rangers whom I assume have years of experience just let them go and obviously the person made a run for it.
There’s quite a few moments when you ask “how did you not see that coming?”
The “intent” that I speak of is what Jared talked about in his interviews, about Walker addressing what happens in law enforcement from the perspective of an actual law enforcer, the issues and so forth.
Episode 13 made an attempt of trying to achieve a part of that intent but unfortunately they just didn’t pull it off. Watching that episode play out I just thought “is this really how you’re going to try and talk about that?”
Now as for the acting. I’ve seen some of the actors and actresses on other shows and they’re amazing. Individually on Walker they’re amazing too but sometimes the chemistry between two of them at the same time just does not work. Sometimes it does. Maybe it’s the writing that creates that effect I’m not sure.
I’m not a fan of the CW network for several reasons but I watch the show for the actors and actresses. I don’t know how or if the network itself have influence over how the story is told but either way everyone involved with CW Walker needs to take a step back and decide where they’re headed with the show. The writing needs to improve a lot and I’m not trying to be mean when I say that but this is a review and this is my take on it.
I simply just want to watch the show every week without the blatant writing and acting.
There’s a few more things I would like to touch on but I’m trying to keep it short.
I’ll say this though, even with its faults the show does have some feel good moments and overall I would recommend watching the show. I’m certainly going to keep watching it and I do hope it gets better.
