It was a great movie. Viola Davis and Lashana Lynch were fantastic. I’ve read some of the bad reviews for this movie and I’d like to make a few things clear. Number 1: the movie takes place in 1823 before the Franco-Dahomean war. Number 2: in the movie it is made clear that the what people in it are Portuguese. Number 3: it does not demean men the Oyo leader is this big jacked warrior who Nanisca is barely able to defeat.
