If I could have given it negative stars I would. Watched the entire thing. Sat in disbelief. Gorgeous scenery. Chopped up character archetypes viewed and written through the lens of males with trauma of what they considered friend zoned teenage years. And over-analysis of women who weren’t interested in them later. Creating the MC into an infantilized irreparably broken baby vessel. The criminal whose voice was oddly a substitute for her own was so poorly written in some inner rage of a 90 pound feeling powerless dynamic born out of teenage angst type of revenge verbiage. It was mortifying. This is the only way I can explain the absolute travesty of every character. The portrayal of bi-polar is outdated and stigmatizing. The trauma visited by that character while the father stayed in and connected while adding limited trauma on top was never going to induce the level of trauma response these flashbacks and inter personal relationship dramas would have induced. This is just bad Jungian wanna be ism to build a flawed story line to work out pain by the writers about their own plausible struggles. It’s almost incel in its deliberate mockery of every character in particular hero building of the father and boyfriend while mocking the archetype of the typical cast type of the “good looking” charismatic tall guy. Weird stuff going on a good research psychiatrist might unpack. I don’t understand why you would display yourself this way tbh. It speaks a very rough tale of internal struggle by the writers. It doesn’t tell the story they sought to lay out at all. It was mortifying to witness.

The first season was a good ride. It made sense in how humans would react to this scenario. I made it to the last episode of season 2 and was fully invested in the characters and story. Then the clear right wing propaganda emerged. Yes we would need to protect rights and avoid terrorist behavior. However the underlying political messaging and right leaning jargon became quite clear and ruined the entire ride for me. Next time skip the political bs. We have enough of that in real life I don’t need it in the entertainment I use to escape. The attack on Congress recently tells a story about far right wing messaging and how driving the extremes of the patriots vs the non patriots (the other) has led to some very dark days. It didn’t start with 2016, it started decades ago and building language such as is found in this series helped breed the avarice and violence we eventually experienced.
