I really wanted to like this movie. But sadly our generations ability to tell a cohesive story is diminishing. Why can’t we introduce characters properly anymore?
Alexander Molony had ZERO stage presence as the iconic Peter Pan. In a world where there are so many INCREDIBLE kid actors, the casting director fell short on this entire children cast. Where is Peters personality? Where is Tinks? Does Alyssa Wapanatahk even know how to act? Has Alexander Molony taken a single acting lesson?
ESPECIALLY when the main protagonist is acting across from JUDE LAW - you need to be able to show more emotion. Think of Jeremy Sumpter and Jason Isaac’s - Jeremy put in WORK as the character to draw the audience in and feel an emotional connection to his character. The only emotional connection I felt in this 2023 rendition was for Michael’s bear.
The only redeeming qualities of this film were Jude laws performance and the beautiful cinematography. So 2 stars. Disappointing and honestly a disrespectful tribute to James Barrie’s characters.
