Honestly, it was Zack that had given me high hopes about this one. And I had seen Army of Thieves before this, which was impressive and had its share of high points. Since I have been a fan of films such as Man of Steel, Watchmen, 300, Justice League, Batman vs Superman, Sucker Punch, I was expecting a similar level of engagement with this one too.
But but but....Army of the Dear is nothing of that sort. I understand it won the Fan's Favourite movie at the Oscars, but I was terribly disappointed with it. Bautista struggles with his dialogue deliveries, not sure cause of his look or his constant state of depression. My only favourite character in the movie is Matthias Schweighöfer who plays Dieter the safecracker. He is the only LIFE in what is the Army of Dead, quite literally. The scale of imagination is ok and that's purely because of Zack but otherwise, the score, direction and special effects fail to make an impact after you have seen the movie. Overall, a dud of a movie.
The Army of Dead is an example of how grand budgets and names like Netflix and Zack Snyder collectively couldn't do anything to justify the massive scale of production.
