This was my first read of 2024 and I love it 5/5 for me . Yes it's cozy and slice of life . So the story is about : it's a japnese book translated to english so back then thier was this lepropsy disease and the people who got this used to be locked up in asylums . So the story was about a man to pay his debts he his working in a shop who sell sweet bean paste bread. Buissnes is not good then one day this women whose hands are a little crooked comes to her for a job she is 70 how can he give her a job but in the end he did . She teaches him to make sweet bean paste but this time in a way taht made him love his job . Now later in story when he gets to know she has hansen disease ( leprosy )he is taken back , he visits her in that building where former hansen disease recoverd people live And other people outcasted them even when they got cured it was so sad yet so powefyll how she taught him how to listen to small things liek sound of trees , sound of beans when they are boiling. At the end she dies but she thinks this man as her son so her last letter included telling him to live life meaning fully
