I personally love Dumbo. I always have. He is my favorite Disney character. I watched this movie as a kid hundreds of times. Now while I adore this movie. I can definitely see why others would not. This movie can be a bit dark and racist. For example, somewhere towards the beginning of the movie, there is a song called "Song of the Roustabouts", which is clearly racist towards African Americans. Not only this, but the movie also centers around Animal cruelty. Dumbo faces harassment from not only the humans but also from the other elephants. This is not a movie I would recommend to people who get very easily offended. However, this is a movie I would recommend for people who are able to look past these things and enjoy the movie for what it is. Lets also keep in mind that this movie was made back in 1941. So of course Disney has had a lot of time to improve of past mistakes. I would personally give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars. But for the general audience, (especially nowadays) I would give it a 3.7 out of 5. Definitely a movie that die hard Disney fans should see AT LEAST once.
