As a fan of All The Presidents Men and Spotlight, I was a little let down by She Said. It came off a tad too preachy, kind of like the old 50s and early 60s liberal message films.
For example, there's a scene where Carey Mulligan, channeling reporter Megan Twohey, goes total nuclear meltdown on a guy in a bar for interrupting her business conversation with colleagues. Yeah, the guy's annoying as hell and yeah, he's got that smarmy entitlement vibe, but his crime isn't worthy of the meltdown--Harvey Weinstein or no Harvey Weinstein.
That said, I'm glad that New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor brought down that puke inducing behemoth. In fact I'm more than glad, I'm proud that it was two women who pulled the plug on the slimebucket.
I just don't think it's necessary for the film to pile on by blaming postpartum blues on toxic masculine culture while Twohey's husband is depicted burping the baby. Just sayin'.
