This is the first anime-style cartoon series that embraces feminine power and gender fluidity. I wish that I had known more about She-Ra growing up, but even though I was born in 1980, I only have vague recollection of her name. The show is representative of so much! Bow's dads and their willingness to show emotion instead of Toxic Masculinity, and Glimmer's relationship with her mother, and Scorpia's loving hard contrasting with her external appearance... so much character development and complexity. I did get a little tired of the storyline with Catra's jealousy and bitterness, but I guess somebody has to be the villain. Shadow Weaver's origins were far less relevatory than expected. And Entrapta's scientific mind working both side out of a love for scientific knowledge was a fascinating display of concern for scientific ethics in a dystopian kind of way. Would I have picked up on all of these things as a kid? Probably not, but I have to say as an adult I love it.
