What a shame this was heavily underrated at release. I try to watch/read quality reviews as much as I can. But I was let down by trusted reviewers on this one. But also, let’s be honest, people love to hate on Ubisoft because it gives them street cred Such a beautiful and engaging game. Silly, sweet and a very specific style. It’s a mash up of all our favourite genres. Seriously worth a play if you haven’t already. Only warning, this game is heavy on the puzzles. So if you don’t like puzzles, this game might be a little frustrating. But as a puzzle fan, the way they tied them in with an open world narrative game, I was very much in my happy place. Like all these type of games, side mission, side mission, side mission. Powering up our stats will makes the journey a lot more fun. Unless you like to grind against super challenging over powered bosses.

Potentially one of the most important films ever made. Yes it’s graphic, painful, distressing and exquisitely soul destroying on many levels. But what this movie did was expose something true about misogyny and the depraved lengths men will and have gone to, to oppress and punish those they deem as weaker or exploitable. I only watched this once, as though I am a fairly strong and emotionally self aware person. As a victim of parts of this film and a staunch advocate for women’s right to be safe in all situations. This movie erupted a deep and profound sadness inside me, that I literally grew and evolved from watching this. But frankly am not ready to revisit any time soon. Highly recommend watching this film, completely understand if you don’t. Both are equally appropriate choices.

Spoiler ahead. I thought this film was brilliantly executed all the way till the final act. The hype around this film is another example of how social media ruins our perception of content we consume. So in part this is why I feel a little underwhelmed. The final act was incredibly rushed and out of step with the rest of the script. Also even though this was an English film in so many ways. When they did the classic American thing of explaining what happened, even though we clearly knew what had happened, turned this from a funny, dark and romantically broken film, into a bit of a cliche. Either keep it kinda a mystery or find another way to clarify the point. Basically this was a really clever film until it treated the viewer like a simpleton. I really did enjoy it until the last 15 minutes tho.
