I was so excited for this movie. I had listened to the soundtrack before the movie came out. It sounded like it had so much potential. The art looked amazing. Sadly this was not so. The plot and character development was lacking. I took a class on playwriting and one of the main things to focus on is Character development and plot
One of the big things I noticed was that Asha never made a mistake. She always did the right thing, she didn't really have to challenge herself, which is a primary part to character development. The villain became evil too quickly. And the songs felt like they were cut and pasted into the story, instead of the flow. For example, the "I am a star" song didn't really answer why the star came to her and how the star could have powers. I wish Disney would finally be able to come up with a good story. But then again, Disney has never really been able to make their own stories. They always have to take from another story and add to it.
