This review is probably going to be too ambiguous but I hope it gets someone to play this game because it’s super underrated. I’ve replayed this game once, and I can say it’s one of my favorites. It single-handedly got me into indie/platform games. The story is compelling with a serious meaningful theme, but it has a good amount of comic relief all throughout. The fighting mechanics with the guns and wrench offer a good mix of ranger and close combat. The art is also beautiful, and I love all the different characters and their personalities (hopefully Mina also becomes your favorite). The dungeons/overworld have great puzzles (which I admit I would get stuck on for longer than I’d like), and there’s plenty of items to find for weapon/character upgrades without it being too overwhelming (you can complete the game without any upgrades, and it won’t be too much more difficult). The game also gives you the ability to select a wide range of difficulties to play at. The enemies and bosses all require different strategies to fight them, and are appreciably challenging (especially the final boss :’) ).
