A gentle read with a deadly serious moral 'Guidance from The Greatest' puts into perspective the UK public's response to the current pandemic. Whilst I am a child and not a member of the 'Greatest Generation' I can admire their qualities and see where they have faded and what a void has been left. Through interviews with those who lived through WWII (not always in military capacities) Gavin Mortimer encapsulates their attitudes through twelve qualities including Stoicism, Liberality, Fellowship and Humour. It's a humbling and endeering book. The highest recommendation is that it has probably been slaughtered by the twitterati!
