Disappointing to be fair. Good characters, but the plots are so contrived and the clues so tenuous and ridiculous. Always several murders, and it feels like they filmed various explanations then did a mash up in the edit suite. Too many red herrings n ends up being someone who was barely filmed. You can guarantee it. They killed off all the warmth n good side characters as they went. No light relief. Morse starts to get a bit annoying. The never on always off relationship with Miss Thursday again just becomes boring and you end up not having much empathy left for that. Too many instances where you think I could have written and plotted that better. It wouldn't have taken too much tweaking to make this a great series. Instead I feel the characters were wasted. About to finish the end of the last series. Halfway through episode 2. Looking forward to getting it over with. Expecting it to end the way most of the episodes have, with very little pay off.

I'll give it 2 stars for the first 2 seasons. Knew it would run out of steam but unbelievable how badly and how quickly. Could only get half way through season 3. Ruined by trying too hard to be quirky and funny. Turning all the characters (many of whom were great actors) into parodies of themselves. Couldn't care less about Piper and Alex either by that point. Turned a good drama with humour into a crap sitcom.
