I would not have described myself as a "bookworm" over the years. I've read and enjoyed Dan Brown's books and Richard Osman's too most notably. Coincidentally perhaps, I was watching Richard Osman's House of Games one week when Val McDermid was a guest and he mentioned she was "a terrific author". I did a bit of research and ordered "The Wire in the Blood". It was gripping! That was just months ago and I'm currently reading book 7 in the series which I decided to read in order after realising I'd started with book 2. They are completely absorbing if you like the subject matter. For the last few months I've finished one book and ordered the next one straight away! They are literary masterpieces which I'm devouring faster than other books I've ever read. Thank you Val for your amazing work! Incidentally I've chosen to leave this review against "The Torment of Others" because it was my favourite at the time. That's a subjective and pointless accolade in the context of an amazing series. If you haven’t read one......you're missing out!

Thank you Richard! Having read all the other Thursday Murder Club books I was looking forward to getting my hands on this one. I think this is the best one yet. It's more emotional....deeper.....and without giving anything away to those who haven't read it yet, in that one particular chapter there are some wonderful reflections on the movement of time! I'm looking forward to your next book with the father-in-law/daughter-in-law detective duo!! Don't stop writing!

This book historically is highly regarded. I'm an open minded guy so I started to read it. I struggled to get it. Even from the title....it sounds very "flakey" and having read about a quarter of the book I've come to the conclusion it doesn't live up to the hype! Some of what he's saying I don't even understand and the bits I do understand seem unnecessarily complicated. He doesn't come across as someone who really understands what he's trying to say with a genuine desire to communicate this wonderful secret to others. If you really want to seek the path to wealth and riches don't waste your time reading this book!!
