Terribly disappointed by all aspects of this movie. The script, set design, music, etc. Galinda was a superficial Barbie knockoff, there was no bright whimsy in the set designs, characters that were "good" now are "bad", Munchkins are tall, and not a single song could you walk away singing. I was bored right from the start and couldn't wait for it to end.

This movie kills the joy and wonder that has been Willy Wonka. They took the colorful, imaginative, wonder and amazement that was the previous Wonka films and turned it dark, dreary, and filled it with crime after crime after crime. Corrupt police, corrupt church, corrupt business people, attempted murder and forced enslavement set in dark, drab, town. What were they thinking???

I didn't understand it. The person I was with didn't understand it. A stranger sitting close to us admitted as everyone left the theater that they didn't understand it either. I came home and googled it to try to understand it and the sites I found that tried to explain it seemed to "know" things that weren't in the movie...some of which even differed from what was in the movie (i.e. a separated woman in the movie is said to be remarried in the review....huh??) Were they given a different version or press releases that explained things that weren't in the actual movie?? I blame the writing. The concept would have been great if the writer had managed to explain things so the audience could understand better.
