Ill give it 1 star for the amazing fact that someone was able to get this trash greenlighted and the acting was solid. Outside of that it was slow moving, nonsensical, not scary and ultimately pointless. This movie has all the makes of a complete waste of time.

Laughable at best. Bunch of fake friends illogically turn on each and make one silly decision after another while being bested by sadistic 80yr olds doing a home invasion. Skip it...and go watch Don't Breathe for a much better home invasion goes wrong film.

Please before watching realize this is a horror/comedy movie and social satire which should have been called "Killer Weaves: Hairy Hats on Attack!!!"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 If you keep that in mind its actually surprisingly entertaining. Outrageous but entertaining. As a social satire some will be offended and some will find it sadly intriguing. But hey the thought of women of color spending outrageous amounts of money sewing other races of womens hair into their heads just to meet some imposed absurd European standard of beauty is actually sad and offensive, so it hit the mark for me. If you a fan of campy horror like Evil Dead or Drag Me to Hell this is definitely worth a watch.

Although episode 1 dragged, it had enough mystic to interest me in watching more. I also enjoyed its attempt at exploring social issues of tace and family. However, after watching episode 2 I seriously doubt if Ill stick around for a 3rd episode (even in a pandemic) as its a very frustrating watch. It often leaves you feeling as if you missed a scene or two with characters having an understanding and acceptance of events that are not explained or reacting to events and situations in unconvincing manners. Basically this is just sloppy storytelling as the narrative is disjointed at time and all over the place. Often times they insert music scores that seem out of place and really pulls you out the fantasy world they attempting to create. If I really get bored maybe Ill revisit this series later to see if its developed but for now I'd rather watch the grass grow. Never having read the book I really have to wonder if thIs is just a bad adaptation or are the books just as trash and thier popularity a fluke? To think the money spent on this could have funded an Octavia Butler Wildseed series. All in all thus far while it has some very interesting concepts its extremely poorly execution.

Solid acting, good production and even an initially interesting start couldn't save this movie past the halfway mark. Unfortunately, it quickly devolved into another disjointed failed attempt at social commentary and race relations. A lack of any true character development or effective backstory undermined any understanding or connection to the main characters motivation. I love Regina Hall and I get what the writer/director was trying to do but this was a fail on so many levels. Throw it on the pile of the other failed "Get Out" wannabes.😮‍💨 You've been warned.

Can you say missed potential??? This was a visually pleasing so called horror movie without much substance or a single scare. Its hard to decided what failed this movie more..the undeveloped script, poor direction or contrived dialogue. Its attempts to draw from the horror of Americas slave history came across as a poor attempt to capitalize off the current racial climate in this country and the success of vastly better done sicial commentary horror films like "Get Out". Even its supposed twist ending missed the mark as it was not only anti climatic but reasonably predictable. And the overly melodramatic ending just made the whole thing seem cheesy in the end. In the hands of better writers and directors the premise might have been interesting. Unfortunately, no such writers or directors were attached to this film. In the end if you mixed a bad emotionless version of "Roots" with an even worse version of M. Knights, "The Village" and failed miserable at mimicking the creepiness of "Get Out"......you'd have Antebellum.

From the weak opening scene you figured this can only get better, right? Wrong. What a waste of Tony Jaa and damn near 2 hours of my life. You've been warned.
