The writing is beautiful! The love between Jarret and Lexington is heart wrenching. The story of horse racing and it's history is hard to put down. But her contrived racism and impression of police is untrue. To characterize police as unfeeling murderers is wrong. These scenarios are what cause the division in our country. Shame on her for using these lies in what would otherwise have been a beautiful book.

If you like reading about depravity and narcissistic behavior this one is for you. This author uses her talent for descriptive writing to portray graphic perverted sex. Characters can justify heinous behavior. It is ok to reach out for your own happiness no matter who is hurt. No redeeming qualities for this one.
