Really enjoyed this. Woody Allen said it was his favourite film to make in an interview and it is quite a watch. The locations are spot on for the smart London set. I love that the film predates the smart phone so it feels almost old fashioned. It was originally meant to be in NYC but the BBC funded it so it was moved to London and it still works, perhaps better. The cringe worthy Hewitt family are so horrific they are brilliant. There are a lot of British actors from the time and its a real throw back. I especially liked Penelope Wilton as the awful Mrs Hewitt. Apparently the british press was not as positive about this film as in America. I suspect this is because it holds up quite a very ugly mirror to the contemporary 'Londongrad' upper class / City of London - amoral, greedy and borderline alcoholic. Chris evenutally becomes just like them and pays the ultimate price. Rhyss Meyers 'Irish' accent is a bit off and I felt a bit of a lag about half way in bit so 4 stars but I still loved it.
