A very intresting story about the troubled years of World War II and the people who made victory possible. Harriman was lucky to be in the center of all important events, he met people who by now have become mythological figures akin to Julius Ceasar, Alexander of Macedon, etc. By his service as the American ambassador to the Soviet Union he harmonized, as much as he could, the relationships with the Soviet Union, not the easiest of partners and explained his American readers that this was not the easiest but glorious time.
