The lengthy comment of another , Cris -- is exactly how I felt about this movie. Though I haven't read or watched the actual Mary Poppins,. what he said about the original author, being the victim of powerful greed, manipulation to take their product and try to change it into something unrecognizable for profit. That this woman put into unfamiliar city surrounded by those that are employees of the powerful, helping him to change her book. The flashbacks into her cruel childhood by a drunken father that did fail at everything, makes it hard, sad to watch. Those review remarks of another I agree with. It did not have a title that fit. I wouldn't recommend this movie as a family movie. Emma Thompson was brilliant. Other actors also showing real life in it's harsh reality. Plus the
greed manipulation for profit by the powerful.
