All you have to do is read the first slew of 1 star reviews to know it’s the same handful of idiots repeatedly copying and pasting the same idiotic garbage. It’s obvious they feel deeply threatened by the content and it should be ample testimony as to what a masterpiece this movie actually is.
It’s also pretty clear to me that anyone who gave this movie anything less than 4 stars is, at best, looking for a basic action movie no more complex than Die Hard (this is not that) or, at worst, has a vacuous hole where a brain should be and is simply just a malignant racist and/or misogynist. This becomes pretty evident the deeper you go down the lower star rabbit hole.
Save yourself the disgust with humanity and know that this movie is a brilliant and deeply compassionate rendering of the best and worst parts of our human nature. It also leaves the door open to the idea that we get to choose what parts in us come forward if we muster the courage to lead with love rather than succumb to our basic fears, prejudices, and paranoia. Sam Esmail is a genius of a film maker and if you loved Mr. Robot (especially ep. 407), you’ll love this.
This movie will stay with you, has the power to make you self-reflect, and maybe even change your mind. Exactly the kind of power that must be so terrifying to all the 1-star bullies.
