Started playing this for the first time when the Remastered PS5 version came out and have just recently finished it. I'm still unable to stop thinking about it.
A beautifully told story, with some remarkable twists and turns that make you look at things differently, carefully manipulating your emotions in a way that builds to an intense conclusion. There are many memorable characters, spectacular set-pieces and interesting diversions in a stunning-looking, incredibly detailed world. Like the first game, there are little stories everywhere, but in this game the world feels even more real, the combat scenes with non-infected people particuarly stand out as every single person you come across has a name and people (and in some cases animals) who care about them. The way the story opens out and reveals itself is something I wish I could experience all over again.
I remember some of the controversy when it first came out without knowing any of the details at the time, and while I can understand why some sections of the game might be upsetting, some of the criticism I've read in some of the copy-pasted "reviews" here has clearly been written by someone who hasn't played the game. I have no doubt that this is a masterpiece.
