I was really exited for this book because I heard such good things about it. But 10 minutes into the audio book I was already cringing at the overuse of adjectives and overly flowery language. The suspension of disbelief you have to use to get lost in the narrative is over the top, even in a fiction book. There are so many inconsistencies and it feels like the author was either ignorant or laughing at her audience. The romance tropes were tired. The author takes a whole page to describe what could be summed up in a paragraph, and although it's supposed to be a mystery, I figured out the "twist" within a few chapters. Obviously it's a very popular book that a lot of people liked, but all throughout the book my only question (besides all of the questions about how kia survived with all her teeth and brains) was "where the heck is the editor?"
