Great acting. Great visuals. Great sound, but not emotionally engaging, and the end of the movie is an anti-climax totally lacking in suspense that should leave you hungry for the next installment.
This would have been better as a Series where the characters and their relationships could have been developed in a way that would have engaged audience empathy.
The desert scenes are visually comparable to David Lean's iconic film Lawrence of Arabia. But David Lean's film has strong and well developed characters that are engaging.
Dune has great actors, and Rebecca Ferguson's performance is riveting, whereas the other actors are bland by comparison, simply because the script does not fully develop their characters.
If you're just looking for immersive visuals and sound, then this may rate as one of the best sci-fi movies ever. But if you're expecting a heart gripping, soul searching movie, then leave the Kleenex tissues at home. Would I watch this movie again? Unlikely.
