I was really excited to see a remake of The Stand. The storytelling has basically been lost and they try to explain things through a series of badly strung together flashbacks. If you didn't read the book or watch the original series you would probably be extremely confused half the time. I feel sorry for the cast. The writing and story direction is something I've only seen in some of the worst B movies. Do yourself a favor and watch the original.
