This is a review of the ps4 version. If you have the ps5 version, you can decide if it’s a ps5 quality game. I can’t understand how a remake of a ps4 game is so much worse in performance than the original. If this is what happens when they switch up the game engine, then please don’t ever use the engine again. It’s almost an insult to other games that have used the same engine and never had performance issues. Everything is fine until one part of the game, and it’s this one part that drives in the low star review. The town goes up in flames, and apparently the game has trouble rendering all the extra graphics??? The sudden lag becomes unbearable. It wouldn’t be worth mentioning if there wasn’t a boss battle with all this lag. Input is delayed, animations are delayed, even the camera is more delayed than it usually is!!! I lowered the game difficulty from second hardest to easiest just to get this part over with. It’s that bad, and it’s enough to ruin the experience I’ve had so far with the game.

Story builds up tension in a great way. Final villain gives off a menacing vibe, which is awesome. The game really tries to nail down the whole detective thing, and the effort shows. But some of those detective things are hit or miss. Silly parts are pretty much a given in the yakuza franchise. They’re a good laugh in this game as well. One thing that really bogs down the game though is the combat. You’ll really have to force yourself to get through the early game battles with the hope that it gets better. It does eventually. Before it does though, the combat really really sucks. One tip. Use wall attacks.
