I LOVE some of Connie Willis' other work, like Doomsday Book and To Say Nothing of the Dog. I thought those characters were great, suspenseful and interesting and the plot really moved. I've read them over and over.
I was interested in The Road to Roswell at first but then it just seemed so repetitive… and I got really tired of the of the dialogue between the characters. It seemed kind of like some version of the same dialogue over and over and over with slight changes of location and people.
I am listening to it as an audiobook so maybe some of that had to do with the narration but I actually had to stop it several times because I was so annoyed with the banality of the dialogue and the fact that it just was so repetitive.
I want to see how it turns out but I almost Fast forward past some of the dialogue.
Disappointing, unfortunately, as I was so looking forward to any new Connie Willis book. Her older books will still be some of my favorites of the genre, though.
