Until Solo came out, this was the best of all the Star Wars movies. No more good fights evil, super heroes and super villains, but that dark and gritty place in between where the little people in the wings suffer hardships, are deprived of parents, freedom and love, must make tough choices, cross lines, find themselves making hard and cruel compromises, sacrificing so much, being twisted by events, and not liking what they see in the mirror. It may have failed to really capitalise on opportunity in the end of the movie (unless the powers that be add a twist in the tale in the not too distant future) but formed the platform for the next step to make better Star Wars movies: Solo built on this - dark and gritty but also more witty. Oh when, oh when, will Star Wars produce its own television series now that they're finally starting to get it right?!
