I have detested American sit-coms forever. They almost always are built on lying, deception, conflict avoidance and so on and invariably leave a bad taste in my mouth. This show is something entirely different. The characters attempt to be honest with other and meet their challenges head on, no matter how hard that can be. It is unbelievably refreshing. And I really care for Joanne and Noah. As a secular American Jew, there are many uncomfortable moments for me in this show, which is one of the things that makes it so worthwhile.
