I think the low stars may be because people didn't understand. I usually hate dream sequences on screen, but the one with Louis Armstrong singing "Go Down Moses" as Black women push our star Jewish woman around was brilliant. I've never even thought about how many Black slave spirituals were co-opted from Jewish stories - some straight from Torah. But can we even say "co-opted", given the historical Black experience in America? This twisty thought process is *still* making me think about - and endeavor to rid myself of - my own prejudices. Brava, Alma Har'el. I'll be following your career.
