This game had great potential but milestone made 2 very poor decisions which to this day aren't patched. 1. License, I've no idea why they thought people would enjoy the one part of racing that isn't enjoyable. No one has a fantasy of earning a License, they want to race. 2. Time attack, it's the worst version of time attacks I've ever played in a racing game. Time attacks fail you immediately upon crossing the line if you didn't make the time requing you to restart the whole race. When it first launched there were even time attacks where the AI would crash before handing over the controls to you failing you before you could even try. Oh and Licenses for new race categories mostly consist of time attacks. All they had to do to salvage the game was fix time attacks. If they had done that it would have saved the game.
