Not comparing to the 1998 animated film but also not definitely living the Ballad of Mulan Chinese Epic. Biggest mistake was making Mulan “the chosen one” rather than an ordinary girl. The ordinary Mulan who was witty and smart, strategic and simple was what made the animated film relatable to all. The 2020 mulan can’t deliver an empowering message to all women, when all they did was make Mulan a born extraordinary person. Also, no Chinese person was in the top production. All white people lead the prod. No wonder it sounded like a white movie attempting to please the Chinese.
