Erin Veitch

Underwhelming. I started it, got bored and read another book, came back to it and forced myself to finish it, thinking it must get better if it's an NYT best seller. It didn't get better. Echoing the sentiments of many others, there is little character development, the characters are unlikeable, there is no plot.

I won't do a plot recap as that's easy to find elsewhere. This is an interesting and compelling story that was easy to keep reading, but I feel is lazily wrapped up. The mystery is never fully resolved. I felt like it started out as a mystery but then turned into something else. Some of the topics the author touched on could have been more well researched (such as "number crunching" and insinuating a character has OCD because she likes her house to be clean, without any other delibitating characteristics of the disorder). Anywho, enjoyable but a little undercooked.
