I got this purely because it was banned. I was put off by the inaccuracy of Nina Simone being the singer of Strange Fruit rather than the incredible Billie Holliday. The writing is stilted and self-aggrandizing as well as repetitive and preachy. I do not recommend it in any way.

I am deeply sympathetic to the plight of Jewish folk, as well as all the other, who were subjected to the atrocious behavior of Nazi Germany. The issue with this book is that once you have read one of the same general ilk, it becomes hard to read and not compare. The book is good but not better than others. If you haven't read one, this is a great idea. If you have, I would suspect this will not excite you in any manner.

It is too much to read. I have no problem with supposed classics but the lack of continuity is bothersome to me. I did learn some things, in a fictional manner. The Wikipedia synopsis did more for me in truth.
