Been playing it for about an hour. So far, the gameplay is very basic. I don't see offline multiplayer, so like... what's that about? Overall, it's a very standard anime arena fighting game of this era. It's very similar in feel to the Demon Slayer Game, except with a more stripped down story mode. It's fine, but certainly doesn't hold a candle to older arena style fighters of past generations. I can't believe I don't see grabs as an option! That's fighting game 101 for breaking guard.

The visuals are nice, but as a long time fan of the series, I don't think it does the characters and plot justice. I'll try as hard as possible to not spoil anything, but some of the key touches that make characters what they are is missing from their movie interpretations. With an audience surrogate main character, you're given a never before mentioned familial link to a classic, beloved character. Where has such an important character been for the last 30 years of the franchise? Don't worry about that. You're thinking too hard. Plot isn't what they're here for. Tons of new elements to the mythology that don't add to it, or even serve the plot. But, you can enjoy classic characters be given zero lines and killed off with no real gravitas. Couple of relatively obscure characters are given screentime, but are reduced to cartoonish minions. Looked good, but story writing was a mess. Some good dialogue, but I didn't walk out with a good taste in my mouth.
