Beautiful and touching film, reminiscent of The Last Bus . I've read reviews saying this was underwhelming but I spent the last 20 minutes holding back sobs and everyone in the showing was crying at the end. Perhaps it depends on the experiences you've had in life whether it resonates. Jim Broadbent was so perfectly cast I couldn't imagine anyone else in the role. And Penelope Wilton was magnificent. Earl Cave ,looking so like his dad in his youth is going to be a star someday

How , when this film was pitched, no one said 'why bother?' Is beyond me. Almost 2 hours of watching someone's home video of a fairly dull holiday. Long lingering shots of someone smoking, someone tidying a room, a door..... Kept waiting for it to start. I'm normally the first to cry at a movie but this left me completely unmoved. Nothing wrong with the acting, but I could have stayed at home, painted a wall, and watched it dry and been less bored

At over 2 and a half hours way too long. Michelle Williams character is irritating beyond words. How this is is Oscar nominated and Empire of Light isn't is beyond me. My overall emotion was boredom
