I think that you almost had to be an older adult to really understand the terrible losses that the families faced. I am old enough to remember WWII Just think about the terrible destruction and loss in Ukraine going on right now and you can begin to understand It was difficult at first to follow the plot but the later part of the film made a lot of things clear. Far from now empathizing with the characters I had tears streaming down my face.
