Jenny Hope

I have not read Pickwick Papers. It was given to my father on his SEVENTH birthday by an elderly Aunt. I doubt Dad read it in his life time. The writing is small...l hope he was given something more fitting for his age group. Imagine giving that book to a youngster now!!!

For me it really pushes home what a lot of selfish people we are inclined to be in the materialistic world we live in ... ..we turn on the news at night and think how sad ..and that it for many. While a big % of people live in horrendous conditions.

The author certainly gets into her characters..it is quite an exhausting read....certainly deals with issues of the day....

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldnt put it down.A great story line;an historical novel about ordinary people who had to find inner strength to cope during horrific times.
