Lots of bands and booms but about as clichéd as a movie can get. Predictable? You bet! I did find it interesting that in the original movie the entire class was white alpha males with the exception of one black REO that flew with Maverick but, in this man's and women's Navy, we have white, black, brown, yellow, women, probably gay (but don't ask, don't tell)... pretty much all of the ethnic bases covered. Diversity is now paramount at Top Gun! Nothing wrong with it. Just a reflection of the times though I seriously doubt a reflection of the reality of Top Gun school. It's okay but kind of has Star Wars:A New Hope written all over it.
