I liked the premise of the show - real estate agents, making an investment in a home to increase salability/profit. But with all of the home improvement shows, the budgets are unreal. A full kitchen remodel (flooring, cabinets, countertops, appliances, etc.) is $15k. If I could get a full kitchen remodel for $15k, sign me up!
I don't understand some of the design ideas, but too each, his own. One split-level rental house from season 2 had an extra bonus room. They put the washer and dryer on a pedestal in the corner of the room. I thought that was very strange for a living area. Another house had a large laundry room, which the owner used as a laundry room/sewing room. The twins purchased an old table, chairs and a portable record player. They made it into a "music" room. Personally, I wouldn't hang out in the laundry room and listen to records while the washer is running. Another house had the exterior painted - except the garage door was left white. I never understood why people do that. The door sticks out like a sore thumb and gives a house an unfinished look. Also, often not much is done with the exterior. Almost all of the homes have no "wow!" factor from the outside.
