overall good cinematography and i enjoyed the story but i
: spoilers :
was not a fan of the plot point of the main character blaming herself for not being there for her family when her mom died . bro she was twelve . its not a childs job to be there for anyone emotionally (especially when said child felt ignored by everyone around her ??) and she supposedly had a singular summer to provide the so called support to the people around her while -- as a child -- that is not her responsibility . it felt victim blamey . she was in a state of near solitude for years having to watch the world around her continue on and she was supposed to feel guilty for not thinking of her family ?? and shes finally able to be seen as soon as she acts on this "discovery" ? icky :/ but then again the movies based on a book i havent read so idk how accurate to the original it is .. also theres no clarification of how that lost time was patched for those around her ? was she missing ? they supposedly remember her but do they recognize that theyd forgotten her at all ?? the main point of the movie being "grow up" when the conflict of the story (turning invisible) happened when she was a child makes zero sense . did not deserve to spend years as a punishment to a behavior that she wouldve outgrown regardless . idk maybe im missing the point or something but nobodys said this yet so i figured id voice my thoughts here :///
