A very disappointing experience. So many aspects that made the little mermaid a great movie were removed all together or changed drastically. From Eric having parents to songs having different lyrics that were unnecessary to scenes being removed that were staples from the original, this movie fails to pay the proper homage to the 1989 classic film. Now to be fair there were some things that made the movie slightly enjoyable like keeping some of lines straight from the original. Also Ursula was perfectly cast with Melissa McCarthy. She was very sinister in the film from how she is normally very comedic which showed a nice level of depth and skill the actress has. The character of Vanessa was also played perfectly as to whenever she was supposed to be extreme Jessica Alexander had no issues showing just how crazy she could get. I would definitely not recommend watching this movie in theaters, just wait until it comes out on Disney plus.
