It's hard for me to reconcile all the reviews lauding The Favourite for it's witty conversation and bawdy comedy. Although well acted, the movie I saw was not witty, nor did it have a single likeable character in it. Nor was there any reason to have made this movie, other than to spread depression and despair. It was so unpleasant that I felt robbed of my ticket price and downright obliged to discourage the Christmas Day crowd in the lobby from seeing it. I've never done that before--nor have I ever posted a comment about a film.
