Rebel Moon was pretty good. It is clearly missing at least an hour of footage which Netflix is holding back to manufacture another Snyder cut, which is goofy at best and a blatant cash grab at worst.
But the movie you're left with isn't bad, it's visually stunning with solid performances. Sofia Boutella's hardened but trying to be soft former soldier played off so well with naive farmer himbo Michiel Huisman, I wanted to see more of their search for help. Charlie Hunnam is clearly having a blast, and Ray Fisher just about stole the show.
You can tell that there's a rich lore and worldbuilding behind most interactions, it's easily as enjoyable as any of the recent star wars or mcu flicks. Are there some pacing issues in the second half and maybe one too many slow-mo scenes? Sure, it's Zack Snyder after all but it's in no way unwatchable. I had fun with it, and I want see what happens next.
